MARKET DAY Volunteer Opportunities

InfO Booth SuperstarS

Welcome and assist market visitors who visit the Info Booth. Help customers find their favorite vendors, assist customers who receive food benefits get the tokens they need to shop at BFM and log those transactions, sell BFM merchandise to fundraise for the market, and encourage folks to sign-up for our weekly newsletter and SMS alerts.

Note: Due to the need to understand the food access programs and Square POS system, volunteers for this shift are encouraged to sign-up for at least 4 shifts during the season.

Set-Up / Tear Down

This job is physical. We can’t wait to workout with you! Come setup tents, tables, chairs, and our signs and set-up our handwashing stations in the afternoon before the market, or come tear it all down for storage in the evening.

VENDOR SUPPORT

Provide BFM vendors support during their long day at the market!  Distribute food access signage to each vendor booth, offer water bottle and coffee refills to vendors, help at vendor booths that are short-staffed, assist with customer line management, be on-hand to watch a booth for vendor staff bathroom breaks, and pass out vendor checkout slips at the end of the market day.

Market day ChampionS

Be part of the team that makes BFM a friendly gathering place each week! Greet customers at our entrances, count market customers as they enter (essential for our data collection), hand out shopper giveaways, assist in keeping our dining areas and overall market site clean and stocked, gather insight from shoppers by staffing our "dot survey" questions, refill dog water bowls and thank market patrons as they exit with their market hauls.

Photographer

Photographers capture photos and short videos from a shot list provided by the Market Director, plus other visuals of our vendors, customers, yummy food and fun environment.  These visuals will be used to promote the market in our social media, newsletter, and website.

KIDS “POP” Club Team

Help host the beloved Two-Bite Challenge and other Power of Produce (POP) Club activities for kids. For the Two-Bite Challenge, you'll prepare tasting samples to introduce kids to new fruits and vegetables and hand out tokens after they taste.  For other POP Club kids activities (interactive experiences, craft activities, etc), you may be assisting kids in the activity, replenishing supplies and keeping the area tidy.

Adopt-a-board

The service is simple: each week on Thursday morning, you place an A-Board on a public sidewalk near your home. Then, you bring in the sign on Thursday evening. You store the sign at your home through the regular season.
